Setup Gmail on your Blackberry: Common Problems and Solutions
Please note that Blackberry devices are no longer officially supported by Google. As such, we cannot guarantee that these steps will be successful. Please see here for more information: https://support.google.com/mail/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=78882
Here are some things that you can do to setup your Blackberry with the NAU
Gmail system:
- If you are having trouble connecting to your Gmail account on your
Blackberry, you may need to re-authorize the Google Captcha and/or reset your password.
-
After that, follow these steps:
-
If you have already tried to setup Gmail on
your Blackberry, delete the existing account you created and
then go to set up a new email account as "Other" not Gmail.
-
When you get to the set up page you need to
set the email to something invalid, such as
uid+1234@nau.edu. Then
input your password. After you hit Next it will fail and then
give you an option to input the settings manually.
-
Select manual setup and then click Next and
then say it is a personal email. This will then give you the
option to input the email, username, password and email server.
For these you need to set them as the fallowing:
-
E-Mail:
uid@nau.edu
-
Username:uid@nau.edu
-
Password: Your normal NAU password
- Note: If you have specifically designated a password for use with NAU Gmail, use that password here. Otherwise, use your normal NAU password.
-
E-Mail Server: imap.gmail.com
-
The username needs to include the @nau.edu in order
to work so be sure you change the username to include the
@nau.edu portion.
- Finish setting it up. If you send a test message
to check and see if it works it may take a couple minutes to deliver.
- If you encounter any problems with this setup, please visit
this Gmail help article or contact the
Student Technology
Center.
